CPHM WANTS YOU!!
Have you ever wanted to help in a way that will help others? Do you enjoy learning and gaining new skills? Do you want to have a direct impact on the community you live in?

If you answered yes to these then have we got an exciting job for you! Even if you are still not sure, please read on. As a member of the Clifton Park & Halfmoon Emergency Corps you will be doing all of the above and more. By gaining the medical training and applying it in the field you will be assisting people who need you the most. Making a difference in their lives!

You will gain many new skills and learn to sharpen and advance those skills to your level. There are many different levels of care within the Emergency Medical System in New York State. You start off at the Emergency Medical Technician level and can go all the way to Paramedic, once you have acquired and mastered the basic knowledge. Sounds overwhelming? Well it really is a lot easier than it sounds. Being an EMT allows you to use what you have learned, and also to think on your feet, no two situations you face are ever the same.

You will be providing care for the members of your community and all those who travel within. It is a great feeling to be able to give something back to the community. Volunteering your time is one way to do just that!

STILL INTERESTED??...READ ON!    Being a member of CPHM has all of these benefits and more. The agency is made up of both volunteer and paid personnel.  We work together as a team, providing the same end result. If you join the Clifton Park & Halfmoon Emergency Corps you will be provided with the tools and knowledge to perform. We provide uniforms to all our members, to promote a professional look, and also to protect from hazardous operations. Training is provided through the Saratoga County Emergency Medical Council. Advanced training, such as Paramedic school, and other specialized training is also available, provided our criteria is met.

We require that you provide us with 24 hours of monthly service at a minimum. Members are scheduled on a nightly shift, usually in six or twelve hour increments.  All members, unless exempt, are required to ride a twelve hour shift at least one weekend day a month. Mondays are the days that CPHM handles all of its business. Members are required to attend a drill, usually the first Monday of the month, and the regular business meeting, held on the third Monday of the month.

Sounds like all work and no play, you say? We also have a lot fun here at CPHM. We have committees that are here to ensure that fun is injected into the agency. We participate in parades, stand-bys at town functions, training of other agencies, and many other opportunities for all who are interested. We also have an annual banquet held in January each year. It is a great night, away from all the hustle and bustle, a night to relax and enjoy. The banquet includes a sit down dinner, a DJ or band, and an interesting, and often humorous presentation. The Corps held its third annual dinner cruise on the Hudson and looks to continue that tradition for many years to come. Also, the trip to the Great Escape, is always anxiously awaited.

So as you can see, there is some work involved. We also have a good time doing it. You build strong friendships here at CPHM. You learn to work with individuals and groups of people. You work with other emergency agencies like the local fire and police departments. Most rewarding of all, is the opportunity to see the difference you make. It may be as little as reassuring someone that they are ok, to performing CPR successfully and being recognized for the life saving procedure. It is a challenging, exciting, and rewarding service to provide, and what better agency to do that with than CPHM!
